My primary specialties are couples, ADHD-related issues, and men's issues. I work with kids as young as 9 years old to people in their golden years. I work with individuals experiencing attachment injuries/trauma, anxiety, depression, anger management issues, ADHD-related issues in adults and adolescents, and life transitions. I also specialize in working with couples who need help with communication and conflict management skills as well as different kinds of intimacy issues. I graduated from Indiana Wesleyan University in 2019 with my Master's degree and have 3+ years of experience. I worked as a Home Based Therapist working with families who had open DCS cases before moving into private practice full-time in April 2022. As a Christian, I approach what I do with a Christian worldview. This does not mean I try to shove my worldview down anyone's throat but I am not ashamed of who I am. I am very comfortable with clients who do not share my worldview. If a client wants to integrate their Christian faith into their counseling experience I am more than happy to integrate prayer

I am so glad you decided to take time to invest in yourself. Life often takes a toll on us, and we stay so busy it is hard to make time to take care of ourselves. I have worked with people with a variety of symptoms and from different walks of life. The thing a lot of people are missing is connection, and I strive to help create that connection and start moving forward. I work with men and women with the transition to parenthood and with couples in strengthening their marital friendship. I have experience work with trauma and have extensive training in this as well as being certified in EMDR. I really enjoy helping people through transitions in life and am especially passionate about women's issues. These issues, including postpartum, hormonal, infertility, etc, are so complex and can lead to other symptoms. I can help you navigate through this and connect to other supports in your life. I have received specialized training in perinatal (pregnancy and postpartum) mood disorders and infertility counseling. I create a safe and comforting environment to bring your thoughts, feelings, fears, and joys to. I incorporate faith into my counseling when it is mutually important to those I am counseling.

Thank you for your interest in my services. In 2018, I decided to limit my scope of practice to custody/parenting time evaluations and other domestic forensic evaluations, reunification therapy, and co-parenting coaching. At this time, due to the volume of demand for evaluations, I am not taking new reunification or co-parent coaching clients. When that changes, I will immediately announce that here and on my website (https://parentingguidanceservices.com. You can find out more about these services at the website or please feel free to email me at byrdke@gmail.com. All of my communication takes place through email.

PRACTICE NOW LIMITED TO CURRENT AND FORMER CLIENTS. I have been in private practice since 1984 focusing on children, adolescents, adults, and families within the tenets of the Judeo-Christian tradition. I have specialized in bonding and attachment issues with foster and adopted children as well as children from divorced parents. My chosen theoretical orientation is that of a psychodynamic/existential approach within a spiritually based framework. This approach assumes the belief that each individual has been endowed with "free will" and is able to guide and direct his or her own destiny within the parameters of the talents and opportunities that have been bestowed. Former or current clients are welcome to contact me directly via phone, text, or email to discuss how, and if, I may be of assistance to them.

I believe that every person can heal and create the life they want. It is easy for past trauma, life transitions, and daily stresses to keep us from feeling balanced and healthy. Therapy is a safe place to learn new skills, gain insight, practice self-care, and to find purpose and meaning in everyday life. It is also a tool to empower change and to promote healing. View 5 Photos I have a history of working with those who struggle with depression, anxiety, substance use, co-dependency, women's issues, relational issues, and trauma survivors. I have been trained in many different modalities. I am a Certified EMDR Therapist, Master ART Certified therapist, and am trained in various CBT modalities. It is very important to me that my clients to feel supported, understood, and motivated by the therapy process. My philosophy for therapy is to help you recognize your strengths, improve your coping skills, and trust in your ability to overcome any challenges that you may face. I look forward to collaborating with you.

Life doesn’t always go the way we want it to, and discomfort and disappointment can be overwhelming. I love working with clients who are ready to explore change. I have the most experience helping those with anxiety, concerns with trust, self-esteem issues, life transitions, traumatic experiences, difficult family relationships, romantic relationship struggles, and LGBTQ+ experiences. I want to learn what makes you unique, help you build confidence in yourself, and help you reclaim your life narrative. Let's explore those places of power within you to work through the liminal parts of your life. View 4 Photos My passion is in learning people's stories. I use trauma-informed techniques to look at the context of our lives, and together we can forge a new path forward towards the life you find most fulfilling. I draw from narrative therapy to learn about your story, and I use EMDR to help reprocess your experiences, whether individually or with partners. The best part about my job is the connection I get to make with others. I hope that I can build a safe, comfortable space for you to rewrite your story and be more confident in yourself and your relationships. I am vocally LGBTQ+ affirming. If there are parts of you that you want to talk about, I will be here to listen and support as best as I can.
